It has about 3,700 inhabitants. It is located on the Kamenice river in the Křemešník Highlands. Kamenice nad Lipou was founded in the 13th century. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected as an urban monument zone. The main landmark of the town is the Kamenice nad Lipou Castle.
